Hello friends! This is Meghan Crosson here again to give you the run down our Tuesday here at Camp! We started off our day with breakfast of course. We enjoyed scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries and bagels. This seemed to be a big hit along with the delicious fruit bar. After breakfast we had our daily meeting to go over the days schedule. During this we had our first heads and tails raffle of the week. Then we headed back to cabins to clean up and prepare for our morning activity.

Our morning activity was a a color team game in the field. The object of the game was for the pacemakers to run laps to earn kindling which was then used as currency to buy objects to build their metaphorical fire. This was a tiring game for some due to nonstop running but they persevered. The team with the biggest fire was named the winner. The winners were DAISY!

After our morning program, we cooled off in the air conditioned dining hall where we enjoyed steak and cheese subs, onion rings and grapes for lunch. After lunch, campers and staff either headed to the volleyball tournament or to enjoy their spree time activities.

We had our first ever volleyball tournament. 128 campers signed up, 32 teams were formed, but only 1 team was victorious. The tournament was single elimination so it moved quickly, but at the end Jacob Gilbert, Gavin Trainor, James Shepperd, and Jared Holton were our winners! This tournament was such a hit, it might just become a new tradition.

For those who did not participate in the tournament, we had several spree time activities happening at the same time. Some offerings today included paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming at the pier, yard games, soccer, etc. The swim pier has seemed to be a popular spot and today was no different. We also had a group of campers go on the ropes course for the first time ever!

After spree time, we had an afternoon activity “The Rise of the Young Avatar.” The program was with our cabins where we competed in a series of mini games. The goal of the game was to utilize clues to guess which element (wind, fire, water, earth) was the true avatar. After going head to head with other cabins, campers were able to piece together their clues and discover that the true avatar was Fire. This was a fitting outcome given the theme of the day.

After the afternoon program, we had dinner. Tonight’s meal consisted of tacos, chips & guacamole, and churros. What else would we eat on a Tuesday other than tacos? The churros were absolutely stellar. 10/10 meal, no notes.

Following dinner, we headed to chapel which was lead by the junior class. They brought enthusiasm and bright ideas to the service. Tonight’s songs included, “Father Abraham,” “Lord of the Dance,” and “Always Forward.” Hailey and Sarah gave the message. They shared encouraging words about bravery in the face of fears.

You might be thinking “did they not have small groups today?” Once a year, we do one day in reverse and that day was today!! After chapel, we had our small groups at night. Our groups were filled with conversations centered around the fire inside of us. We talked about what we’re passionate about and how we can make these things a bigger part of our lives.

After morning group at night, we headed to vespers. John Fiander kicked off the circle with renditions of “This Little Light of Mine” and “There Will be a Light.” Colin Denizkurt shared a messaged about using your passions as a gift to help others. After that, senior high stayed by the camp fire to star gaze and then we all went to our cabins to get some much needed sleep.
